Pictures my brother and I took between
1968 and `70.

What follows is a series of pictures showing an ``Insertion" into ``The Bush" from start to finish. Our mission was to sweep an area and clear out the North Vietnamese troops.

 

Nervously waiting for the helicopters to pick them up, a company of Marines kills time before being inserted into the jungle for a series of search-and-destroy patrols.




"You take care of me, I'll take care of you."




"Everyone load up!" We felt like cattle being loaded into trucks. For some it would be a one-way trip.




En route to the Landing Zone (LZ) Everything was quiet.




Passing over the infamous Rock Pile where my brother had been stationed.




It was early morning. Fog filled the valleys below us. It would have been beautiful, but we knew what lurked beneath the clouds and the dense jungle canopy.
